The Samsung Galaxy S looks like it’s aimed at killing off the Google Nexus One and looking at it’s spec and what Samsung say it does, it looks definitely worthy of the top “Droid” phone title which looked destined for the HTC Desire at the moment, but this one looks equally as good if not better.
Firstly it’s got a 4” WVGA Super AMOLED screen, first seen on the Samsung Wave recently which is great if you’re outside in the sun with your phone(which in the UK may just be a luxury rather than an actual beneficial use!) It’s also packing a 5MP camera which is capable of snapping HD video. It will also have the usual GPS, Bluetooth etc all run with Android 2.1. However what will make this phone work fast is Samsung’s own 1GHz processor sat under the hood.
Another thing which sets this phone aside is its multimedia capabilities. Available with 8GB or 16GB internal memory, this can also be extended via MicroSD. Media support is great with all your usual file extensions but also AVI, FLV and MKV compatibility. Still what’s more is its DLNA certified Wi-Fi. So yes media streaming is possible on the phone.
No details as for release or prices but Samsung has revealed it will be getting a worldwide release.
